We provide unbiased support throughout the EHR process — from start to finish.
Our mission is to enable providers in the state of Wisconsin to become meaningful users of electronic health record (EHR) technology.
The Wisconsin Health Information Technology Extension Center (WHITEC), led by MetaStar, is the federally designated Health IT Regional Extension Center for the state of Wisconsin. One of 62 Regional Extension Centers throughout the nation supported by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, WHITEC is tasked with providing outreach, education, and technical assistance to clinics and hospitals wanting to implement and achieve meaningful use of electronic health records.
WHITEC's long-term goal is ensuring that all health care professionals practicing in Wisconsin are able to achieve meaningful use of electronic health records and improve health care quality and efficiency in their practices. Services are available to health care professionals across the continuum of care practicing in Wisconsin, but federal subsidies are available to priority primary care providers to defray the cost of services.
Priority primary care providers are physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with prescribing privileges in the following settings:
- Small group practices
- Ambulatory clinics connected with a public or Critical Access Hospital
- Community health centers and rural health clinics
- Other ambulatory settings that predominantly serve uninsured, underinsured, and medically underserved populations
Expanded services for specialist providers are now available under WHITEC Services Group.
WHITEC Fact Sheet WHITEC, operated as a division of MetaStar, is funded through a cooperative agreement award from the Office of the National Coordinator, Department of Health and Human Services Award No. 90RC0011/01. |
